Blooming looming

21 April, 2017

The Orange pub and hotel in Pimlico Road went green for last year’s display

IT is nearly that time of year again when shop fronts and houses are covered in ravishing floral displays, for all to see, all in the name of Belgravia in Bloom.

This year’s theme is children’s books so expect to see plenty of the magical and the fantastical.

Rococo Chocolates in Motcomb Street have already confirmed they will be doing a James and the Giant Peach-themed display while the Halkin hotel have picked Paddington Bear for their book of choice – could they mean a big bear made of flowers? Marmalade-coloured posies, perhaps? Only time will tell.

It’s a free floral extravaganza but there is also a competitive side – as best blossoms win prizes.

All residents and businesses are invited to join in the annual celebration of blooms and botany and decorate the front of their property too.

The event, from May 22 to 27, is organised by Grosvenor and coincides with the Chelsea Flower Show.
