Alex Iwobi: ‘I’ve had many dreams of winning things for Arsenal at a young age’
ALEX Iwobi says he wants to fulfil his “childhood dream” of winning trophies for Arsenal ahead of the Europa League final against Chelsea.
The 23-year-old Nigeria international is counting down the days until the Gunners tackle the Blues in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 29.
Iwobi has already won an FA Cup and two Community Shields for the club, and is now targeting more silverware.
“To be here and have an opportunity to play in such a big final is great,” he said.
“I’ve had many dreams of winning things for Arsenal at a young age. I never thought I’d make it this far.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will miss the final after opting against travelling to Baku. Despite assurances over his safety from Azerbaijan’s UK ambassador, it is understood the Armenian, 30, feared for his safety.
“Having considered all current options, we had to take the tough decision for me not to travel with the squad to the Europa League final,” said Mkhitaryan.
