A ROAD in Bloomsbury has been closed after police responding to an emergency call hit a car in Upper Woburn Place.

The black car was being driven by a woman, in her 30s, when a police van collided with it just after 9am. The Metropolitan Police said she has been taken by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to a “central London hospital where her injuries are not thought to be life threatening”.

Officers driving the van suffered minor injuries.

Police, the LAS and London Fire Brigade attended the scene of the collision, and road closures remain in place.

Images of the crash show significant damage done to the front of the police van and the rear right-hand door of the woman’s car.

An investigation is now underway.
